Disability Employment Policy in Korea: Its outcomes and problems

Abstract

|
This study attempts to examine the overall outcomes of the disability employment policies and its problems that have been pursued in Korea since 1991. The outcomes of the quota-levy system that was in place from 1991 to 2009 are reviewed and estimated utilizing data from the Levy System of Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled. Also, differences in earned income between people with disabilities and those without disabilities are analyzed utilizing data from the Korean Labor & Income Panel Study. In conclusion, four future strategies regarding disability employment policy are proposed based on the results of the above mentioned evaluation and their implications.
